Recap: WordCamp Boston 2014

I attended my second WordCamp this month at WordCamp Boston, so I figured I’d write up a bit of a recap.

We brought the entire SkyVerge team into town for the conference, which was really awesome. This is actually the first time the entire team had met in person, so we had a blast visiting some of the city attractions and testing out beer samples at the Harpoon Brewery.

At the conference itself, we took a bit of a divide-and-conquer approach to the presentations so that we could catch some different talks from each track, so I got to see talks for users, developers, and businesses. The team especially enjoyed the talk on advanced WordPress development.

It was also great to meet some of the sponsors – I was able to meet up with some of the WP Engine team, who actually brought custom swag for customers that attended the conference (thanks again!). I was also able to meet up with the SiteGround team as well, as I’ve used and reviewed their hosting services.

They even had a special gift as Sell with WP was selected as affiliate of the month for July smile . I was super excited to get these babies:

SiteGround Schwag

SiteGround Shades

Thanks SiteGround!

The thing I like best about WordCamps (aside from the nifty swag) is that you can spend the entire day learning from people who use WordPress in different ways. While not every talk is amazing, it’s still cool to see how people use WordPress, plugins, and themes for their own sites or businesses.

I doubt I’ll be able to attend another WordCamp soon, but will be attending WooConf in November! If I’ll see you there, give me a shout on Twitter smile .

So what about you? Any favorite WordCamps you attend each year? I think I’m going to attend WordCamp Philly next summer, but would love suggestions as to others that are really valuable!
